This morning, Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley, was arraigned before Hon. Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos, on a 11-Count Charge based on allegations of Credit Card Fraud.
In the previous month, he had taken to social media to openly declare his support of online fraud also known as ‘Yahoo yahoo‘, following which controversies had surrounded him like rats after the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
This arraignment was done sequel to his arrest a little over a week ago, alongside his close friend, Zlatan Ibile, a popular upcoming artiste. The EFCC stated that some of the credit cards which Naira Marley fraudulently intercepted bore the names: ‘Nicole Louise Malyon‘ and ‘Timea Fedorne Tatar‘.
As contained in the Charge against him, the acts allegedly committed by Naira Marley are contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015, and punishable under Section 33(2) of the Same Act.
The Court ordered that Naira Marley be remanded in prison custody till the bail application by the Defence Counsel, Taiwo Oreagba, is taken on the 30th of May 2019.
